Lighting Austin By Limo
The air definitely has turned colder in Austin, and of course, the calendar is saying it’s that time of year again – the time when Austin comes alive with lights. If you’ve been in Austin any amount of time, you have seen the colorful lights of the season as you drive through the city; even from I-35, the city seems brighter and more colorful in the darkest of nights. Where can you see the best of what Austin’s season has to offer? Here are our picks for the brightest and prettiest light displays in town:
- The Trail of Lights:
This year, Austin’s Trail of Lights celebrates its 50th anniversary and, boy, are they doing it in style. Zilker Park will be awash in the colors of the season from December 7 through the 21st, from 7 pm to 10 pm nightly. Things kick off with a preview party on December 5, followed by the Fun Run on the 6th and then the grand opening. The special evenings don’t stop there, though – Hero’s Night (celebrating those who have served) is December 9, and UT night is December 16, adding orange to the festive atmosphere that surrounds the annual Zilker event. Click here to get your tickets (most Mondays through Thursdays are free, with a modest fee for Friday through Sunday).
- 37th Street Lights
Have you driven past 37th Street downtown? It looks like a nice, normal little neighborhood most of the year, but for over 20 years, the 37th Street area has provided one of the most vivid light displays anywhere in Austin. As you walk down the street, you’ll be dazzled by the light extravaganza, a coordinated effort by those living in the neighborhood to make Austin just a little brighter. Admission is free, but parking can be a bit of a bear, as you cannot park on the neighborhood streets themselves.
- Mozart’s By The Lake
Mozart’s is an Austin landmark, sitting pretty on the edge of Lady Bird Lake near downtown Austin and every year, their lights, reflecting off the lake at night, has held visitors in awe. Stay warm on those cold December evenings by sipping freshly brewed coffee or, better yet, hot chocolate, on the deck and watch the lights flicker with the movement of the water.
These are our three favorite places to take in the lights of the season, but being Austin, this just barely scratches the surface.
As much as everyone enjoys the festivities surrounding the holiday light shows, the one thing everyone dreads is the problem of parking. In most areas where the lights are extraordinary, parking can be a nightmare and you often end up parking blocks away and walking into the venue. And getting from one area to another can take longer than the trip through the lights themselves.
We have a solution to both problems though – enjoy the lights of the season from the comfort of your own limousine for the evening. Your professional, courteous driver will pick you up at home and, while you enjoy a warm beverage – or a more adult version – you’ll be quickly and easily whisked from one venue to the next without the hassle and expense of finding a parking place, paying for that parking and then finding the next location. You’re free to enjoy the evening with friends and family, while leaving the worry to someone else.
Call us now to book your holiday lighting limo … we can’t wait to show you the sights!
