Austin City Limits: Guide to Getting Around the Festival

ACLAustin City Limits (ACL) is the biggest highlight of the year in Austin.  With over 75,000 people flooding into Austin for two weekends of music, food and fun, getting around Austin can be a test of anyone’s patience.  Where are the best places to eat and stay?  What’s the best way to get to your favorite events?

There’s no doubt that, as the Live Music Capitol, Austin has its share of big music events but ACL is the biggest of the big.  This year, between October 3-5 and October 10-12, the city will see over 100 music acts take the stage at Zilker Park in downtown Austin, not to mention those attending the Arts Festival and Austin Kiddie Limits accompanying the main event.

It’s August but already tickets are hard to come by.  Finding a hotel room is going to be tough as well, but if you’ve already got your tickets and reservations, your next biggest concern is where you’re going to eat and boy, does Austin deliver.  With some of the best restaurants in the country, Austin boasts tasty treats to meet any palate, from BBQ and gourmet tacos to fine dining.  Here are some of our favorite restaurants to try during ACL:

  • Austin Java – An Austin landmark, Austin Java serves American fare with a unique Austin touch – from gourmet burgers and salads to breakfast tacos and migas.  And their gourmet coffee, roasted only for Austin Java, is enough to get your engines running, no matter the time of day.  Austin Java boasts seven locations throughout Austin and most are open 7 am to 10 pm.
  • 24 Diner – Located in the heart of downtown, at 6th and Lamar, 24 Diner is an eclectic mix of diner and gourmet.  Classic American cuisine, like chopped salad, burgers and breakfast served 24/7, are paired with a full bar and great service.  Voted by Food & Wine Magazine as one of America’s Best Diners for 2014, 24 Diner is headed by award-winning Chef Andrew Curren, recently featured on BravoTV’s Top Chef.
  • The Salt Lick – You want BBQ?  We’ve got BBQ!  The Salt Lick is an Austin tradition and one of best places in the country to enjoy slow-roasted brisket, chicken and pork.  With a unique flavor and an amazing location in Dripping Springs, just outside Austin, the Salt Lick is a definite must-try destination for visitors to Austin.

But with so many people in town, what’s the best way to get around?  There is no parking at the festival site, so you’ll have to rely on the free shuttles and bus service that been set up for those attending ACL.  Better yet, why drive?  Even when ACL isn’t in town, parking downtown is a hassle and can be very expensive.  Add to it thousands of extra cars and it can be a nightmare to drive yourself.

Why not choose a better way to get to ACL – hire Austin Choice Limousine!  We can get you to and from the event in style.  Gone is the parking hassle and stress of sitting in traffic.  Let our experienced, professional drivers take you to ACL in comfort, while you sit back, relax and enjoy the drive.  Using a car service makes sense from a money standpoint, too – you don’t have to pay for parking, not to mention taking a chance your car will be dented or dinged because you’re parking in a cramped lot.

Take the hassle out of getting to Austin City Limits in October – Call Austin Choice Limousine to reserve your limousine today!  But hurry – reservations are going fast!
